On the 3rd October 2022, I was honored to have been asked by Sotheby’s New York to take part in their Benefit Auction ‘Contemporary Discoveries’, in support of the eminent Brazilian social documentary photographer and photojournalist Sebastiao Salgado’s foundation Instituto Terra. The not-for-profit Brazilian organization is in place to spread awareness about the history of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest and the delicate ecosystem that connects all living things within it. To fundraise for this important initiative, Sotheby’s and Instituto Terra host an innovative three-week-long exhibition of award-winning artist Sebastião Salgado’s most celebrated photographs and a Benefit Auction ‘Contemporary Discoveries’, sponsored by Morgan Stanley. Alongside the Benefit Auction, was a show-stopping Gala at Sotheby’s New York, co-chaired by Annie Leibovitz and included committee members such as VMAs winner Anitta, Francisco Costa, Adrian Grenier, Nina Garcia, Gabriela Hearst, and more.
My work titled 'The Snows of Kilimanjaro II Amboseli Kenya' was auctioned off in the Sotheby’s Benefit Auction ‘Contemporary Discoveries’ (lot 596). Estimated to make 8,000 - 12,000 $USD, the work went over the top estimate and realised 16,380 $USD.

The work was on view at Sotheby's New York, throughout the duration of the sale. The mural-sized archival pigment print, framed, 2021, one from an edition 5 measuring sheet: 60 by 90 in, is an exceptional work from my Elephant collection.
I donated 100% of the hammer price of this work to Sebastiao Salgado’s foundation Instituto Terra. In addition, Sotheby’s donated 100% of its Overhead Premium to Instituto Terra and its Buyer's Premium, after deducting expenses.
